Pre-experience business master’s programs are an increasingly big part of global graduate management education. With each passing year, more business schools expand their program portfolios to include more of these programs, and a growing share of candidates tell GMAC Research that they are considering applying to them.

Our latest mba.com Prospective Students Survey shows that nearly 1 in 4 global business school candidates (23%) are considering only business master’s program types—up from just 15 percent in 2009.

How do these candidates plan to cover the costs of their degree? It turns out the answer differs quite a bit by candidate citizenship. As a part of the mba.com survey, GMAC Research asks candidates to estimate the percentage of their total education cost that they intend to finance through specific sources. Presented in February’s Chart of the Month is the average financial mix candidates aged 23 and younger plan to utilize to pay for their degree, by country/region of citizenship.
